My name is Matthew DiFava and I am part of the board at the Heart Warrior Foundation. We are a Massachusetts based nonprofit 501c3 (EIN 81-3998870). Our foundation supports children diagnosed with congenital heart defects and their families, specifically through Boston Children's Hospital. We strive to improve the health and quality of life outcomes of CHDs through funding advancements in research, develop a stronger support network for siblings of CHD patients and also recognize the courage they possess during such a difficult time, support the heart warrior family unit during inpatient settings to make hospital stays less stressful, and support the advancement of continuing education for nurses and also high school students looking to matriculate in the area of medicine/nursing. We have two $1000 high school scholarships, donate to the Heart Center at Boston Childrens as well as research studies, give patient families meals, sponsor bereaved mothers to attend grieving seminar in NJ, sponsor cupckae and character parties on cardiac floor, as well as established the Healing with Happiness program which mirrors Make a Wish in which we give CHD children a New England expereience of their choosing. I have seen the struggles first hand as my daughter as endured four open heart surgeries at Boston Childrens and is preparing for her fifth. I am so passionate about seeing these kids smile and easing the stress that parents face during these diffcult times. Our donors, like you help us accomplish our goals and programs and without them we would not be able to make as much of an impact.
