Help for Brain Injured Children (HBIC) strives to deliver a safe and caring environment for those living with moderate to severe disabilities to have every opportunity to develop to their maximum potential. A key aspect of this mission is to establish an encompassing support system that allows positive reinforcement for the individuals, as well as encouragement and support of their families. HBIC provides programs that include academics, physical development, vocational training, independent living skills, communication training, and positive behavior support. Through the hard work of our dedicated and highly qualified staff, our individuals are provided the opportunity to improve their quality of life.  HBIC recognizes that each individual is unique, with their own challenges in coping with the demands of society; our fundamental philosophy is that all individuals have the right and the ability to learn.

HBIC operates two locations, one in Orange County, and a second in Los Angeles County. The primary facility in La Habra houses the Cleta Harder Developmental School (CHDS), which is a state certified Non-Public School dedicated to providing an alternative academic program for students unable to reach their maximum potential in a public school. A second location in Whittier offers the HBIC Adult Day Program (ADP). This is a follow-on program for many of our students which provides community integration, independence training, vocational training/job placement, and practical reading, math, and technology awareness for individuals beyond the age of typical Special Education (22+yrs). The HBIC Adult Day Program is currently certified by the State of CA for up to 21 clients and offers on-going training with a client-to-staff ratio of 3:1.
