Helping Hands for Susak is an organization whose primary goals are to improve Susak, a remote island in the Adriatic Sea in Croatia. Many of the island people migrated to Bergen County, NJ and surrounding areas in the 1960’s in hopes of providing their children with a more sustainable quality of life. Three generations, currently residing in the United States, go back to Susak every summer. And each year, the families work together to bring improvements and necessities to the island and its people.
On Sunday, June 5th we will be hosting our 4th annual Picnic fundraiser at Croatia Land in Boonton, NJ. This is one of our organization's events held throughout the year. The money raised will directly support the children of Croatian descent and surrounding communities.
We are currently in the process of creating a school that will allow families to learn about their families heritage and culture while living in the Bergen County area. The students attending will also take part in giving back opportunities such as volunteering at food shelters and more. It is important that children learn about their own heritage but also give back to local communities. Eventually we would like to help build up the school found overseas that lacks the basics and a park. Your donation can help us slowly get to our goal of helping children here and overseas!
This event historically sells out, bringing together friends, businesses, and community partners across the Hudson and Bergen County area. We anticipate over 300 guests in attendance.
Our picnic will feature musical entertainment, fun games, spectacular prizes, exceptional grand prizes and a Super 50/50. Without the generous contributions and donations from you, the benefactor, this event would not be a success.
