Hiawahta PTO serves a school community with two campuses (Hiawahta and Howe) consisting of kindergarten through 5th grade students in south Minneapolis. Below lists our mission, vision, and values as an organization.
Mission: Work together to strengthen our schools and provide abundant enrichment opportunities for all of our students
Vision: Students come first and have equitable enrichment opportunities.
Values
Enrichment: We will continue to provide resources to bring new experiences to students in and out of the classroom to enhance their learning.
Fiscal Responsibility: We will continue to create and meet financial goals to support our students and be transparent about financial decisions.
Inclusion: We want fundraising, programming, and events to be inclusive of our entire student body and their families.
Equity: We strive to partner with families and teachers to learn about inequities and provide support where we can.
Organizational Sustainability: We strive to create an organization that provides fundraising, enrichment opportunities, and events that can easily be replicated in the future.
Community: We want to bring community into our schools and our schools into the community.
Service: We want to create a service-learning culture where we share our skills in service to our school and community.
Environmental Sustainability: We want to minimize the environmental impact through our events and offer opportunities to teach our students and school community about environmental stewardship.
