To provide a safe, supportive environment that encourages people with brain injuries and other neurological challenges to design and direct their own life’s journey.  At this time we provide two services, Structured Day(Evening) Program and Vocational Services.  Our Day and Evening Programs run M-F 7:30am to 8:30pm, we also offer Saturday or Sunday programming 2 times per month.  This program is for individuals over age 18 who have experienced a brain injury or other neurological challenge learn compensatory strategies in cognitive skill building areas such as memory, concentration, organization, task completion.  Within our program we offer a variety of community outings to area businesses and activities; art, music, and physical therapy; adaptive yoga and other sports (cycling, kayaking, etc.), and woodworking.  There are also a variety of participant and staff lead discussion groups and activities weekly.  Each person comes to the Hickok Center with short term or long term goals to add in their recovery and increase their independence.

The second program we offer is Vocational Services.  This program assists youth in transition (17 years of age+) and adults to obtain competitive employment by assessing each individuals job readiness.  We also assist in job exploration, resume writing, interviewing skills & practice, and provide additional on the job support as needed by the individual and their employer.  We also provide a career exploration program where we either onsite or out in the community learn more about the different careers and companies within the Rochester, NY area and beyond.  We are also in the process of opening a participant run thrift store to be used by participants in house and eventually shared with the greater neuro-disabled community.
