HOPE is a nonprofit that serves overweight, obese, and morbidly obese adolescents in the Richmond area. We provide nutrion education which includes the basics of My Plate, meal planning, energy balance, and label reading. We also provide behavioral health counseling to teach our clinets how to set goals, stay motivated, change their habits, and have healthy self-esteem. Our clients also attend fitness sessions at our facility so that they can get exercise and learn the basics of working out.
Our mission is to reduce the prevelance of childhood obesity in the Richmond area by providing education, support, and the proper tools so that our clients can lead their best, healthiest lives. Over 90 percent of our clients come from underserved communities, lower socioeconomic backgrounds, and identify as Black or Hispanic, which creates even more barriers to getting healthy. Donations would be used to incentivize attendance to our program, to celebrate for weight loss milestones/program completion, and as prizes at community outreach events.
