To provide hot meals and personal contact to people age 60+ and to others unable to prepare nutritious meals for themselves. Hendersonville Home Bound Meals will accept persons under 60 that for health reasons such as log term illness and cannot prepare their own meals. We prepare hot meals 5 days a week 52 weeks a year and ddeliver them to our clients. Out clients are in the most vunerable segment of the population. Most live alone. Our clients have little if ono personal contact with anyone on a daily basis. Our volunteers have a saying "The meal is the key to the door toward opening a lasting friendship". The delivery of the mealopenns that door to develop that freindship. It also provides the extended family with comfort knowing that someone is checking on their loved one. this allows then to carry on their busy lives. The fmaily knowsthat if the client conveys any concerns relating to health or their surroundings durig the visit we will pass that infomration along to them. The meals meet U.S. Standards set by The Dept. of Human Services for diabetics and certain other special dietary requirements. It is our hope that this program will enable them to remain living in their homes where they want to be for as long as possible.
