Hope Hits Harder is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children diagnosed with cancer in the San Antonio area. Our goal is to take a portion of the immediate burden off of the shoulders of the families that have just found out that their child has cancer. Many of these families have little or no insurance, some are from out of town, and some must give up their jobs to stay at the hospital with their child. We want to give them a little HOPE that people care, and that help is available.
Hope Hits Harder’s commitments:
● Sponsor a new Child Life Center at the Women’s & Children’s addition to University Hospital
● Send children to Camp Discovery - this camp gives children with cancer a true summer camp experience with caring volunteers and other kids who are fighting the same fight
● Grant three scholarships through B.I.G. Love Cancer Care for children battling cancer
● Sponsor a two bedroom apartment with A Shelter for Cancer Families for San Antonio patients seeking treatment at MD Anderson
● Underwrite three cancer care rooms and a playroom at San Antonio’s Ronald McDonald House
● Continue providing our existing programs: HOPE Bags, HOPE Packs, meal/parking vouchers, annual Toy Drive, Jana Banana Day, etc.
