Our story begins some 30 years ago with the vision of three local nurses who imagined and advocated for a better quality of life for people living with life-limiting illness in Niagara.

In 1993, Hospice Niagara was established with support from a team of volunteers who have grown in numbers and remain a cornerstone of hospice care to this day.

Specialized care was offered for people and families in their homes and throughout the community as programs and services expanded to meet the growing needs of Niagara.

Another milestone was reached in 2007, when the hospice residence in St. Catharines opened with 10 private rooms, providing end-of-life care for people and families.

Hospice palliative care is needed now, more than ever. With Niagara’s aging population, more people are living longer with more complex conditions such as COPD, ALS, complex heart disease and multiple cancers. The need for hospice palliative care is greater than ever and continues to rise.
