The Illinois Veterinary Medical Foundation (IVMF) provides scholarships and helps the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association (ISVMA) develop charitable programs related to the veterinary medical profession. The main focus of the IVMF is to provide tuition scholarships to class representatives to the ISVMA. Four doctor of veterainry medicine (DVM) students receive sholarships as a result of their interest in supporting the profession through involvement in organized veterinary medicine. These shcoalarships are provided to the ISVMA class represenatives in each of the four years of study. Each student recieves $4,000 over the course of their veterinary school education.
In addtion to the DVM awards, the IVMF awards five $500 scholarships to five deserving certified veterinary technician (CVT) students currently enrolled in classes in American Veterinary Medical Associaiton-accredited veteinrary technology programs who are attending any of five such higher eduation schools providing this eduation within Illinois. The scholarships are awarded on an annual basis by the IVMF to provide tuition assistance toward veteirnary medicine education for eligible college students. Like their DVM counterparts, CVT awardees are student members of the ISVMA.
