The International Women's Democracy Center was established in 1995 to strengthen women's global leadership through training, education, networking and research. IWDC works in partnership with established local organizations to implement all programs, projects and activites designed to strengthen the leadership roles and management skills of women. In 1998, the United Nations awarded IWDC Special Consultative Status which ensures that IWDC can participate in UN proceedings, Special Sessions, global conferences and expert group meetings.
