Mission

Before And After School Child Care

 

The Irvine Children’s Fund (ICF) is a non-profit whose mission is to raise funds – primarily through grants and the Irvine Junior Games – to provide scholarships to LOW INCOME, WORKING FAMILIES for before and after school child care, to expand and maintain child care facilities located on all elementary schools in Irvine and to support child wellness services.  The child care programs are located on all 28 elementary schools in Irvine.  Children in transitional kindergarten through 6th grade can go safely to and from home, school and child care.  The child care programs are open from 7 am – 6 pm  Monday through Friday including school holidays and summers.  Child care is a key component to working families being able to go to work knowing their children are in a nurturing and educational environment.  The child care programs work closely with the schools and teachers to meet the needs  of the children.  The child care is state licensed and meets all state and federal licensing requirements including accessibility for children with disabilities. 

 

DESCRIPTION of Annual fundraising event - Irvine Junior Games

 

The 33rd annual Irvine Junior Games is a fundraising track and field event with 1,200 athletes in 4th – 8th grade from 34 Irvine elementary and middle schools.  The Irvine Junior Games bring together the community, families, corporations and schools to raise money for before and after school child care.  The Irvine Junior Games include events for children with special needs and children in adapted PE.

 

The Irvine Junior Games serve as the primary fundraising event for the Irvine Children’s Fund and encourages the participation of elementary and middle school children in athletics and promote a healthy lifestyle.  More than 75 corporate and individual gold, silver, bronze and spirit team sponsors proudly support the Irvine Junior Games and generously contribute to help ICF reach our fundraising goal of $130,000 for before and after school child care scholarships for low income, working families.  The Silent Auction raised $17,000 last year.

 

The money raised will provide before and after school child care scholarships for low income, working families. 

 

The Irvine Children’s fund is a nonprofit with the purpose of raising funds to:

·        Provide quality, affordable, safe and accessible before and after school child care for children in kindergarten through 6th grade. 

·        Provide child are scholarships for low income, working families

·        Assist with funds to expand, maintain and enrich the 28 child care sites.

 

The track and field event provides funds for before and after school child care for low-income, working families.  Working families who are in low paying jobs.  The child care is provided on all 28 Irvine elementary school sites.

 

Since 1986, The Irvine Children’s Fund, through the Irvine Junior Games and grants, has raised nearly $3M to meet our child care mission including $2.2M for before and after school child care scholarships for low income, working families.
