Jake's Got This is a NJ based 501c3 non-profit charity created by the family and friends of an amazing little boy names Jake. When Jake was just 13 months old her was diagnosed with PVL infant brain damage which ulitmately lead to his diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy. At the time of his diagnosis, his parents were told Jake would never walk, sit up independently and probably not talk. Jake has surprised all of us by defeating the ideas of those who said he could not. Through years of early intervention, intensive therapies, SDR spinal surgery and extensive rehab Jake today is talking, sitting up independently and even walking short distances.
For Most children, money is the barrier that keeps them from reaching their full potential. Even with health insurance families are still looking at spending thousands of dollars out of pocket every year. JGT wants to lessen or even eliminate that financial burden so that children with cerebral palsy can have an equal oppurtunity to engage in resources that are proven to be successful, no matter their financial situation. We have a number of proven therapeutic programs and resources that we hope to offer our canidates. As a foundation we also offer support and guidance to families and cargivers by connecting them to a growing networks of the CP community.
BUT THERE'S MORE!
For children with cerebral palsy and other gross motor delays, their days primarily revolve around therapies, doctors, hospitals and surgeries. Here at JGT, we don't think that's very fun! We find and create amazing expereinces for these children to enjoy not only with each other but with their communities as well. We give them the opportunity to show their communities what they CAN do when given the chance. We provide experiences such as horseback riding, scuba diving, surfing and pig roasts all geared toward these children!
