Hello! We are hosting our 4th annual Jennie Goas Silverman Foundation charity event (virtual poker tournament) on October 25th and I'm writing to see if you might be in a position to donate a gift for the raffle. Things are obviously different this year, but we'd still like to raise money via a silent auction in an effort to continue providing college scholarships to deserving students in a very challenging year.
Our foundation was created to honor the work of Jennie, a high school math teacher in CPS. Jennie was dedicated to impacting the youth of our city and inspiring a love of learning to her students. Jennie was tragically diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in June of 2016 and lost her battle with this awful disease in May 2017. The outreach from her students was overwhelming and inspired her closest friends to establish a scholarship fund in her honor. In addition to providing scholarships for students, the Jennie Goas Silverman Foundation is committed to raising awareness and funds for research to treat and cure triple negative breast cancer.
In 2019, The Jennie Goas Silverman Foundation awarded our third and fourth scholarships to two very deserving students. These students experienced hardships in life and maintained immaculate transcripts while learning valuable life lessons. We are so proud to help support these students in their educational endeavors; and excited to see what amazing things they will do in the future. Additionally, we are partnered with The Mayo Clinic to provide a research grant to forward to the scientific research to cure triple negative research.
