Our Mission
Rooted in Jewish values
we ignite a love of learning
and prepare each student to transform the world
Joseph and Florence Mandel Jewish Day School was established in 1969 as The Agnon School by
a dedicated group of educators and community leaders with a vision to create an option for
parents that didn’t exist at the time – a quality Jewish educational experience for their children.
At the heart of our school’s mission statement is a commitment to ensure that we are providing our students with an educational foundation that is rich and rigorous, filled with joy and amazement, and infused with a deep sense of global responsibility.
As Cleveland’s only Jewish community day school, we are proud to be a community that is
vibrant, diverse and inclusive – one that is built on honoring the sacredness of the individual.
At Mandel JDS, we also believe that building character is just as important as curriculum - which is why our students, graduates, and alumni make a meaningful impact on the  communities in which they live.

Every day at Joseph and Florence Mandel Jewish Day School, the Faculty, Staff, and Administration work tirelessly to help ignite a love of learning in each of our 350 students. The school will be hosting its annual benefit auction on Saturday, March 4th, 2023. Our theme is pure and simple- RENEWAL – celebrating growing together as a strong and vibrant community – it will be an evening of great food, entertainment and a silent auction.

Not only will the students benefit, but also more than 2,000 constituents will be apprised of your generosity. All auction donors will be included in the event promotional materials.

Silent auction proceeds help fund our tuition assistance program, advances in our STEM program, professional development and help to cover the increased cost of security.
