Urban Autism Solutions is dedicated to changing outcomes for young adults with autism through an integrated community life that advances social and vocational opportunities
Urban Autism Solutions, a nonprofit agency in the city of Chicago is celebrating our 10-year anniversary on June 22, 2022. The mission of Urban Autism Solutions is to work with young adults 16-35 years who have autism and related challenges. We accomplish this through three programs, residential, social and vocational.
In the fall of 2019, we opened the first of its kind UAS West Side Transition Academy to serve the most disadvantaged transition-aged students from the West Side of Chicago. This program accompanies our eight-year-old Growing Solutions Farm, a 1.2 acre produce farm in the city where are students learn transferable job skills.
Our students 16-22 years old are predominately African-American and Hispanic and join us from households that are at or below the Federal poverty level. Our UAS Academy provides complementary experiences to their traditional education with a focus on clinical services (Speech and Language Pathology, Social Work and Occupational Therapy). A big component to our program is the community integration we offer. Our 85 weekly students learn how to navigate public transportation, explore the city of Chicago, participate in job internships and much more. One of our goals is to try to obtain competitive employment for our work-ready students.
Today, I am writing to you to ask you for a donation for our raffle that we will have with our 100-125 guests who will join us to celebrate 10 years of innovative solutions. Our invitation is attached for your review. Your donation will be posted to our website and our print materials the day of the event.
