Since 1923, the Junior League of Akron (established as the Junior Charity League) has been a leading catalyst for change and meeting the unmet needs of our neighbors. Now, more than ever, the greater Akron community relies on the Junior League of Akron’s committed and trained volunteers to make a difference in the lives of local families. The Junior League of Akron’s mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. We empower women to get involved, put their talent to work and positively impact the communities of Summit County. Our members provide over 500 service hours a year, supporting over 20 nonprofit organizations in Summit County.

Our present Focus Project is food insecurity and we volunteer with Akron Public Schools backpack weekend food program (Blessings in a Backpack), create food and amenity packs for the unhoused, provide monetary support and volunteer hours to food pantries and also now donate feminine hygiene products so women and teens can get food and free period product packs at three different food pantries.  We also regularly do drives to create craft packs for children at Akron Children's Hospital and volunteer to cook at Ronald McDonald House Akron. This is just to name a few annual and monthly recurring outreach projects.
