Childhood Development
Abse and Neglect
Women’s Self-Sustainability

Community Volunteers and Grants (CV&G) is JLKCMO’s community outreach program that partners with organizations with a shared goal of positively affecting the Kansas City community. All Kansas City nonprofit organizations located within the five-county metropolitan area are eligible to apply for funding and volunteers to support an ongoing program or project.

The Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri, awards grants for financial assistance to community agencies in the five-county Kansas City metropolitan area (Jackson, Clay, and Platte counties in Missouri; Wyandotte and Johnson counties in Kansas) in response to critical needs. These needs may include, but are not limited to, unbudgeted expenses, sudden loss of funding, or a new program. Some examples of past funded grants are an air conditioning failure, bed bug problems in a homeless shelter, and weather disaster damage.

The JLKCMO Action Team (A-Team) provides assistance to nonprofit agencies by offering volunteers for community-based events on a short-term basis. Volunteers can help with events such as picnics, food bank distribution, holiday drives, and fundraising events, just to name a few areas of assistance. Volunteer placements are generally scheduled in three-hour shifts over a time span of a half-day, one-day, or two-day periods. A single shift may not exceed five hours a day.

JLKCMO Community Kits - Women and children often arrive at a domestic violence shelter with nothing but the clothes on their backs. League members assemble kits with basic needed items to ease new residents’ transitions from abusive situations. Kits are assembled based on four standard kits but can be fully customized to meet the needs of your organization.
