JSA is the largest nonprofit, nonpartisan, student-run organization in the country, and our main focus is providing high school students with the space and opportunity to discuss and debate crucial political issues. Through the educational opportunities that are available in JSA, our students become more likely to vote, be civically informed, and engage in our democracy. We take pride in this mission and can say with full confidence that our program produces the future leaders of our nation.
One of the core values in JSA is Diversity. We believe that students’ JSA participation is vastly enhanced when they are surrounded by people with both similar AND different beliefs and experiences. The only way to accomplish this is to ensure our conventions are attended by students from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. I currently serve in our state leadership team to make certain that our scholarship fund is sufficient enough to provide means for anyone to attend our conventions, regardless of financial capabilities. We do this by raising money throughout the year, asking businesses for donations that we can raffle off to support our scholarship fund.
