The Just One Soccer League (JOSL) is a values-based recreational program for Newark youth that strives to build the community and Develop leaders by bringing players, parents, coaches, and volunteers together through the wonderful sport of soccer.
Established in 1996, the name the Just One Soccer League comes from the organization’s long-standing belief that Just One person can make a difference - in this case, we are asking you to consider being that Just One person.
Our mission is to improve our community by providing positive recreational activities where young members of the Newark and surrounding communities can develop leadership skills and self-esteem so that they are better equipped to positively influence their lives, as well as those around them.
We also emphasize healthy eating habits and providing an outlet for youth to have fun and express themselves in a safe environment.
Our commitment, Organized sports activities have been shown to impact the lives of young people, influencing them to make choices that lead away from drug abuse and crime, and towards better academic performance.
But many in Newark face economic challenges that prevent their children from participating in positive developmental programs, such as sports leagues. JOSL is dedicated to maintaining a low annual cost per player, which includes uniforms, equipment, games, and special events participation.
The number of players involved continues to grow annually, demonstrating that the community enjoys the benefits that JOSL provides.
