The Kutztown HOBOS are a non-profit organization established in 1965 as part of Kutztown's sesquicentennial celebration. At the outset, the HOBOS operated out of a cigar box, but since then have raised over $50,000 annually for their local communities. The HOBOS are an oganization of thirty members that raise funds through their various fund raising efforts, giving it all back to their local communities. Perphaps the lesser know fact about the organization is what "HOBO" stands for... Helping Others Before Ourselves.
The mission of the Kutztown HOBOS is to raise funding to support those in need in the Kutztown, Topton, and Fleetwood school districts and surrounding areas. The HOBOS are always looking to help others in need in the communities they serve including; funding scholarships, funding local libraries, support the local veterans, after school programs for children, families displaced from their homes, families challenged with sickness and providing meals to those in need at the holidays.
