The Friends of the Mentor Program (FOMP) nonprofit was established in 2014. The sole mission of the FOMP is to provide funding opportunitues and financial support to the Lake County Youth Mentor Program (LCYMP), which was established in 2010. The mission of the LCYMP is connecting at-risk youth, grades K-12, with adult mentor through one-on-one mentoring; team mentoring for grades 3-6; peer mentoring where high school students mentor elementary students, graded K-2; and Girl Talk Empowerment Program where facilitators present weekly topics and provide hands-on group activities in a safe and comfortable atmosphere for girls in grades 7-12.
