Since 1968, Larc School has committed itself to serving individuals with severe physical and cognitive disabilities and their families. Recognizing the importance of family in the delivery of service, Larc has, for over fifty-four years, attempted to provide both the programmatic and support services required by a family to keep their son or daughter with a severe disability at home in the natural, supportive, and loving environment they are accustomed to having, as opposed to institutionalization.

Approximately 93 students attend Larc's educational program. Accademically we use muti-sensory teaching techniques and curricula tailored to the needs of the individual student in accordance with his or her Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).

Our goal is to help each child - to the maximum extent possible for each - develop their own voice and motivation, and gain the knowledge, skills, and independence they need for meaningful participation in their families and the community.

Once these children reach the age of twenty-one, they no longer are entitled to educational services. Recognizing this, in July 1996, the Larc Special Needs Adult Program began. It currently serves 23 men and women who have aged out of the educational program.
