Our Purpose “Prepare People for Eternity with Jesus.”

Our Vision: “Emmanuel Church of Elgin will be a multicultural, multigenerational group of praying, disciple making people who share the gospel.”

Our Strategy:

We will have a church wide study of prayer, using the book, Battle Plan for Prayer, as the guide. This study will be held in our Discipleship Hour.

We will set aside the first ten minutes of each Sunday morning worship service as a time for solitude and prayer.

We will post a Prayer Box outdoors, on church property, for the purpose of receiving prayer requests from the community.

In order to introduce our church to children and students, we will open an expanded Rec Room (including a Craft Area and Lego Club area) which is open two to four times per month

We will provide the following family oriented activities for the purpose of creating relationships with families in our community: School’s Out Party; an Outdoor “Getaway”; a Picnic; and an Outdoor Christmas Event

We will provide and distribute “Congrats” Baskets to be distributed in the neighborhood as we see signs congratulating people on events such as graduation, anniversaries, births, for the purpose of introducing ourselves and building friendships.

We will host a couple of concerts which will appeal to community.

In order to more effectively share hope with our Spanish speaking friends and neighbors, we will:

· Host a Spanish Bible Study

· Provide English as a Second Language Class

· Provide Monthly Bilingual (English/Spanish) Worship Services

Realizing our community is becoming more and more of a “melting pot”, one we are called to reach, we will:

· Host a guest speaker from World Relief

· Host a “Peoples Around Us Conference”, one that provides backgrounds, needs/ministry opportunities, and effective evangelism models for the various nationalities and cultures in the Elgin area

· Explore Ministries to Refugees

In order to cultivate and nourish our relationships with non-believers, we will:

· Use the outdoors (a new  basketball goal for juveniles in the parking lot; a Hospitality Tent for students going to/coming from school at the beginning of the school  year)

· Share personal salvation testimonies during the worship services

· Host a Meals on Wheels and Community Dining ministry to reach senior adults

· Provide a Kids Singing Club

· Provide a Blessing Box for those who have food needs

· Host and facilitate a support group for caregivers

In order to plant the seed of the gospel, we will:

· Share the gospel when the Game Room is used

· Provide witness training, accompanied by practicums

· Provide a visitation ministry

In order to provide additional opportunities for a harvest of believers, we will:

· Host a Fall Revival

· Have Decision Counselors available during the invitation

We will offer an “Encouragers Program”, using Survival Kit, or equivalent, with each new believer or church members. These encouragers will function as mentors to the new believer/church member.

Each member will identify his or her spiritual gift(s), share these spiritual gifts with the congregation and develop those spiritual gifts annually.

When the church has 20-25 members, it will begin developing an age-graded Bible Study (Sunday School type) ministry.
