Laura’s Children Foundation (LCF) has the mission to teach children simple strategies to live a healthier lifestyle through health education and physical fitness. This non-profit organization engages the children in lessons about health education and puts what they learned into action with fun intellectual and physical activities. Laura’s Children Foundation is for children (male or female) in the age range of eight, through eighteen years old. The goal for 2022 is to serve over 300 new participants (staff included). LCF is primarily focused to the children in Delaware County and Philadelphia, PA, however still open to all. Most children in these school districts generally have a historic disinvestment with poor health outcomes due to several reasons such as, lack of education, low-income households, the increase in fast food restaurants, and technology. LCF plans to help change those statistics with our program! LCF should be considered because there aren't many youth programs available in Delaware County, and Philadelphia, PA that offer both health education and physical fitness. Although there are various sports teams, LCF is that middle ground for those who may not be as athletically coordinated for a sport. While getting the kids active we also take the time to educate the children on various health topics that enforce the REASON that we encourage them to get active and eat clean. A lot of times with children we tell them the reason is because "I said so" or because "it is good for you" which isn't always enough, and LCF is here to help bridge those gaps in an intriguing way! Hopefully we can work together to give back to the families in the community. We can do this by providing resources to help instill the mission of LCF that will direct the children with the proper foundational skills for the future.
