Where the sun shines, love grows. In July of 2021, beloved mother, wife, and exceptional educator, Laura Kirsche Hart, lost her brief battle with breast cancer. In her 34 years, Laura lived as if she knew her time was limited: She expressed gratitude and appreciation for all life has to offer. Her work as an educator, love for nature, and commitment to bringing people together inspired a community garden in her name.

In addition to the 2,000 square foot garden, our organization seeks to promote accessible educational experiences through nature-based learning. Every spring, Laura’s Garden donates butterfly-growing kits to all Wethersfield public elementary schools to foster this exploration, while introducing new pollinators to our community. The Garden will host school field trips to engage students in hands-on learning opportunities, as well as presentations by master gardeners who teach about the importance of pollinator preservation. The Garden is a designated spot on the Pollinator Pathway, which means it is an effective corridor of native plants that provide nutrition and habitat for pollinating insects and birds.

Laura’s Garden is nearly half-way to our goal of $250,000! We have broken ground and poured foundation for the garden benches and water feature. To successfully carry out our mission of accessible education and community-building experiences, we need your help. Please consider making an in-kind donation in any form to Laura’s Garden, Inc. We host two well-attended events annually with both live and silent auctions and are always looking for items. We greatly appreciate your consideration of this request.
