The Lawton Alternative School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a dynamic community of committed parents who generously donate their time, skills, and resources to enrich the educational journey of the diverse student body and dedicated staff at Lawton Alternative School. Lawton is a Kindergarten through 8th grade public school in San Francisco. Our school serves approximately 600 students throughout the city and over 50% of our students qualify for a free or reduced-fee lunch. Lawton is a high-performing school and, as a result, receives limited public funding. Therefore, we depend on fundraising efforts every year to support many of our academic programs.

At the core of our mission is the belief that every child deserves access to a rich and comprehensive education. To achieve this, the PTA collaborates closely with teachers and administrators to identify areas of need and implement targeted initiatives that enhance learning outcomes and promote holistic development. Through our annual fundraising endeavors, we are able to bridge the gap in funding and provide vital support for a wide array of academic programs. From bolstering language arts and science initiatives, music and art appreciation programs, to enriching library services and facilitating educational field trips, our contributions extend far beyond the confines of the classroom.

The Lawton Alternative School PTA serves as a catalyst for positive change, empowering students to reach their full potential and fostering a sense of community and belonging. Through our collective efforts, we strive to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive and succeed, regardless of background or circumstance.
