The mission of Legal Aid Society Inc. of Lubbock, Texas is to afford low to moderate income clients residing in Lubbock and the immediate surrounding counties with first-rate legal assistance, advocacy, and quality counsel in matters of family and elder law with uncompromising dedication and ethical standards. Through unparalleled commitment, these services are realized by:
* Protecting victims of domestic violence with the prompt obtainment of protective orders that avert further exposure to abuse or the event of death,
* Maintaining continuity and security in the lives of parents and children through means of court orders for conservatorship, child support, visitation and property division,
* Providing legal representation for adoptive parents,
* Providing post-decree enforcement of court orders and including protective orders through civil contempt when warranted,
* Serving elderly residents with conventional legal needs such as simple wills, powers of attorney, medical powers of attorney and living wills,
* Increasing awareness among the elderly about legal issues,
* Providing free legal advice concerning the legal rights of individuals, and
* Offering referrals to other agencies when needed.
