Since 1954 Lifeworks has been providing support though advocacy, empowerment and opportunity to more than 2,300 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabiities including autism. Accredited through CARF, Lifeworks offers residential, employment and day support programs, a mental health clinic, Adult Foster Care, the Autism and Law Enforcement Coalition Program, including an Autism Support Center for children, families and adults. Also, Lifeworks offers Adult Social and Recreational programs. It is governed by a 16 member non-compensated board. In October 2020, The Arc of South Norfolk merged with its sister agency Lifeworks, to become one agency under one roof known as Lifeworks.
