Founded in 2016, Live Like Roo Foundation provides support and financial assistance to families whose pet faces a cancer diagnosis. What makes us unique and likely the most accessible pet cancer fund worldwide is we don't restrict services by pet species (we've even helped ferrets, bunnies, and horses!) or location, and there is no cap on our financial assistance. While we cannot eliminate cancer, we can provide people comfort through emotional support and financial assistance during a very difficult time.
People view their pets as a part of their family and it is devastating when they get this unexpected diagnosis. Not only are they emotionally overwhelmed, but the financial burden of providing necessary care can be prohibitive. This may result in the dog suffering or being euthanized before its time, or even being surrendered to the local shelter where a senior animal is likely to remain familyless until they pass from their illness or premature euthanization. Unfortunately, we have seen a significant uptick in requests coming from families facing financial hardship due to the pandemic.
The bulk of our services is covering the costs of veterinary medical and care, which includes procedures such as chemotherapy, cytology, mass removals, biopsies, x-rays, amputations, blood work, radiation, and much more. We will cover pretty much anything the pet needs, given we receive the appropriate documentation from their veterinarian.
