Love INC Lake County was founded in 1994 as part of a nationwide movement of over 115 affiliates to mobilize churches to work together to help fill gaps in social services. The ultimate goal of Love INC, which differs from many traditional social service agencies, is to build long-term relationships with those we serve and invite them into a community, which is often missing from their lives.  One of the primary ways we do this is by offering a variety of life skills classes to support neighbors in reaching their full and desired potential. Our hope is that personal transformation will impact today’s families and future generations. There are three steps in the process of building these deeper relationships.

Step 1 is “Hear the Story.”  Through our Help Center we receive requests for assistance from neighbors referred from local social service agencies.  Our volunteer intake ministers hear their stories and, only then, connect them to the resources that they need.

Step 2 to is “Meet the Physical Need.” Once we hear our neighbors’ stories, our churches work together to meet some of their physical needs.  This includes delivering furniture, beds, household items and more.  Last year through our Bed Ministry, we provided over 300 beds to those going without. We aim to ensure that no one in our community sleeps on the floor!

The final step, Step 3 is “Building Deeper Relationships.”  As a result of seeds planted in Steps 1 & 2, neighbors are invited into the New Hope community. New Hope is our short and long-term (up to 12 weeks) life skills classes ministry where church volunteers and neighbors walk together in longer term relationships.  These classes focus on goal setting, budgeting and financial management, and maintaining healthy relationships, while striving toward the potential God instilled in each of us.  As important as the classes that follow, each session starts with us having a communal dinner – breaking bread together, so that walls come down and unity is built. Our last semester had 25 graduates from the various classes.
