The Love, Logan Foundation was started in 2022 by Rick and Erin Rachwal after losing their 19-year-old son, Logan, to fentanyl poisoning. The Love, Logan Foundation (Love, Logan) is focused on prevention and education in the areas of mental health, substance use disorder, and the unknowns of fentanyl, fake pills, and illicit substances. Too many people ask, “what is fentanyl?” or say, “not MY child”. Love, Logan is passionate about transparency and sharing this powerful story with communities, schools, businesses…anywhere. Every child, adolescent, and adult needs to be aware that ONE PILL CAN KILL and be educated on the LIFE-SAVING resource, Naloxone. This education and awareness could have saved Logan’s life.

All money raised by or donated to Love, Logan will be used for the following:

1 – continue educating all age groups on the dangers of illicit fentanyl through presentations and marketing materials distributed at schools, colleges/universities, and workplaces. Continue to develop and distribute “toolkits” at future events. These “toolkits” will contain education brochures, resources, and materials.

2 – creating visual awareness using car wraps on campus police vehicles to spread the message of the dangers of fentanyl and how “one pill can kill”

3 –Organize and participate in speaking events for administrators, students and parents regarding the life-saving antidote, Naloxone, which reverses an opioid overdose or poisoning.  Partner with the organization “Start Healing Now” which installs Naloxone boxes in community buildings (schools, libraries, gas stations, police departments, village halls, businesses, etc.). Love, Logan will be carrying out the educational program to ensure that individuals know that Naloxone is not harmful, not addictive, nor is it a drug.  The program will include instructions on how to use an OAK box and why it’s critical to know the signs of an opioid overdose or poisoning.  It will also include teaching individuals the importance of an immediate response to administer Naloxone and immediately calling 911.  Having a clear understanding of what Naloxone does is the key to becoming supportive of it being accessible to all. Recognition of the signs, knowledge of what to do, and Naloxone could have saved Logan’s life.

4 – maintain and expand the Love, Logan Foundation Wisconsin #pillpandemic billboard to highlight local individuals who have lost their lives to fentanyl (we are presently financing awareness adds on a digital billboard on Interstate 94 just west of Oconomowoc, WI)

5 – participate in local, state and federal government hearings and legal discussions to bring to fruition measures that will help with law enforcement, mental health, and other related areas to reduce the supply and reduce the demand for the illicit and deadly substances that are now more readily available than ever.

In addition to the information above, the following is relevant to the work Love, Logan is pursuing:

Erin, Logan’s mother, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and runs a private practice in Wisconsin working with families, youth, and individuals. As a practicing clinician AND a grieving mother, she has a unique and heartfelt perspective on the struggles all youth and families are facing. On a personal level, Erin knows all too well the tragedy of an untimely death and how destructive the absence of information about fentanyl can be. Her experience fuels her passion to increase awareness through activism in the community and nationwide.
