I am writing on behalf of the Lucky Puppy Rescue located in Bonifay, FL and Great Beginnings, NY.

Its a typical summer day in the Panhandle and temperatures are soaring beyond 90 degrees. A call is received and a momma dog and her eight pups have been reported living under an abandoned house with no water or food in sight.

Three days later, a volunteer pulls into the LPR driveway and there are two emanicated dogs chained to the fence. No explaination as to why they are there, who left them or if they are coming back for them.

There is such a staggering amount of these situations that one can only imagine. Fortunately, LPR works day in and out 365 days a year to fight for each and every one of these pups. They turned their 120-acre family farm into a rescue and allow volunteers to come in and care for the dogs. A facility that began with accommodations for 20 dogs has now grown to two facilities state wide and cares for an average of 180-230 medium to large breed dogs. The dogs that arrive get veterinary care, are groomed back to health and then are spayed and/or neutered and then evaluated for adoption. Monthly expenses run on average $34K and cover medical bills, vaccinations and preparations for adoptions. Most of the food and supplies are donated through community philanthropical efforts. The LPR receives NO funding from the Government and relies soley on efforts from the community and volunteers.

Beyond the Panhandle was created in New Beginnings, NY to help with the over population issue in Florida. 20-30 dogs are transported via a converted bus every 2 or 3 weeks. The trip is a strenous 20-Hr one-way drive. In the past 6 months, LPR has been able to adopt 300 lucky puppies into new forever homes!

LPR uses public events to encourage good citizenship with regards to the plight of abandoned dogs and the importance of spaying and neutering. The societal contributions go far beyond rehoming pups. LPR's mottoe "Love, Trust, and Respect," not only resonates Godly kindness to animals, but provides the adoptive individuals the opportunity to teach others these qualities as well.
