Dear Great America,
I am a parent at Lynhaven Elementary, which is part of the Campbell Union School District. Lynhavens super power is its students, families and staff. Our school is incredibly diverse. Diverse in ethnicity, with 33 percent of students considered English Language learners-meaning English is not their primary language. Diverse in abilities, 19.9% of students have disabilities. And we are a Title 1 school, which means that over 40% of our students come from socioeconomically disadvantaged homes. Why am I telling you this? Because I believe all kids have the right to opportunities, and we need your help. While the school has some budget for field trips, its not much. Buses alone cost over $600/hr the Parent Teacher Association, PTA, fills in the gaps.
PTA's mission is to enrich students lives, and so when we can say "yes" to field trips, assemblies, help support teachers with out-of-pocket expenses, provide community building events and more, we do. We need support. Coming up on April 21st we have a Walk-a-thon fundraiser. 100% of the proceeds go right back into the school. There are two ways we are asking you to support: First, we need prizes to motivate students to get out there and and ask for donations. Would you consider donating a family four pack or two to your park? Second would you consider a direct donation? Lynhaven Elementary PTA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, and we are happy to provide donation receipts. We will happily advertise your contribution. Thank you for considering, we recognize time and resources are limited, but saying yes is really partnering with PTA and giving these kids equity of enriching experiences.
