Tragically, Maggie lost her life suddenly to a devastating rare and aggressive cancer called Malignant Rhabdoid Tumors on June 1st, 2017, just after her 17th birthday. It was a grueling battle that ended within 10 months of her first complaining of pain.

Maggie’s Mission is committed to making a difference in the lives of children and families affected by pediatric cancers like ours was. Founded in September 2017, in honor of Maggie Schmidt, our beloved daughter and Long Island teenager, we are fulfilling Maggie’s selfless wish to help save children. We are driven by her warrior spirit and desire to help children.

Our dedicated team of volunteers organize fundraising events, awareness campaigns, and partnerships with local businesses and organizations. Through these efforts, we generate the necessary funds to support vital research, provide financial assistance to families, and offer programs that improve the quality of life for children battling cancer.

Just four months after losing our sweet girl, Maggie’s Mission became an official non-profit in September 2017, which happens to be pediatric cancer awareness month. Since then, we’re proud to have raised over $2 million (and counting!) to fight pediatric cancers and assist families in need.
