The Grammy Award winning Martin High School Orchestra was the number one orchestra in the state of Texas as named by TMEA in 2015, 2017, and 2019.  The Symphony also traveled in December 2017 to Chicago for the opportunity to perform in front of a national audience at the Chicago Midwest Clinic, where they performed the premiere of “Sparkle”, a piece commissioned by Martin High School Orchestra to honor the legacy of Jennifer Lemin.  Our Symphony was chosen as only one of two high school full orchestras in the nation to perform for the music educators who attended the clinic. 

 

Additional honors for the Symphony orchestra include performing at the National American String Teachers Association in Orlando, Florida, in 2020, and being named a “Commended Winner” in the Foundation for Music Education National Competition in 2021.  The program has grown over the years, with a total of eight orchestras and over 300 students involved in the program.
