MashUp Contemporary Dance Company is a Los Angeles-based, women-led, and founded company whose mission is to uplift female-identifying artists and build community through dance.
Leading with core values of empowerment, creativity, community, diversity, and innovation, MashUp utilizes diverse artistic programming, community events, education, and professional development towards providing more avenues for women in dance to be heard and seen, sparking conversation around inclusive, intersectional feminist ideologies, democratizing the creative process, and bringing together a broad community to experience the wealth of creativity and thought coming from women creatives - while advocating for greater gender equity in the dance industry and beyond.
The company’s core programs address opportunity, resource, mentorship, and representation gaps for women in dance, and by primarily focusing on serving early and mid-career artists, Mashup believes it is taking a crucial step in building up future women leaders who will change the industry's landscape. In creating and presenting creative work to a broad audience, MashUp strives to prioritize work that is forward-thinking, innovative, and different, expanding beyond a traditional performance experience and thereby crafting exciting entry points for many who might not otherwise engage with dance.
