Nonprofit Category: I - Crime & Legal-Related
Exempt Status: 501(c)(3) (IRS Form 990 Filed)

Mission:  To ensure that victims of crime receive justice and are treated with dignity and compassion through comprehensive victims’ rights and services.

Focus:  There are over 70,000 criminal cases filed in Maryland each year and crime victims never expect to be victimized. Many have never walked into a courthouse and most crime victims do not have legal representation or know they can receive dedicated support from an advocate who can help guide them through the legal process and refer them to other service providers who can assist them with their traumatic experience, loss of property, and restitution requests.

There is a large gap between the number of victims of crime in Maryland and the number of those victims who receive assistance navigating the criminal justice process. MCVRC is actively working with the criminal justice system to ensure that all victim rights are being enforced in this difficult time and our clients are aware of case changes.  Our purpose is to continue to provide legal representation and support to crime victims in Maryland, conduct community outreach and establish additional partnerships.
