Meagan was diagnosed with an inoperable and malignant brain tumour that would take her life a short 6 months later. As Meagan's mother, Denise, left the hospital after Meagan passed away, she knew she had to do something to help other children who face serious health challenges. She also knew that no family should have to walk this path alone, and as a result, Denise founded Meagan's HUG: Creating a Circle of Hope.

With the support of a dedicated team of volunteers, Meagan's HUG has raised over $6.0 million for paediatric brain tumour research over the past 20 years. These efforts have global impact, improving care, treatment and outcomes for young brain tumour patients around the world.

Our mission - Raise awareness and funds for paediatric brain tumour research, and to foster hope and improve outcomes for affected children and their families.

Our vision - A world where no children and their families suffer from a brain tumour.

Meagan’s HUG is making an indelible mark on paediatric health care, improving outcomes, quality of life, and survival rates for children and young people with brain tumours. Meagan’s HUG directs funds to the Brain Tumour Research Centre (BTRC) at SickKids which hosts the only program in Canada dedicated solely to paediatric brain tumour research. Funds also support the Meagan’s HUG Neuro-oncology Fellowship, bringing doctors from around the globe to Toronto to work alongside some of the best in the world. This collaboration brings top paediatric practitioners together and fosters better outcomes for children everywhere.
