MHAMD unifies the actions of consumers, families, professionals, advocates and concerned citizens to impact all aspects of behavioral health, as a primary prevention and education organization. MHAMD advances the vision of a just, humane, and healthy society where each individual is accorded respect, dignity, and the opportunity to achieve their full potential free from stigma and prejudice. While specific programs focus on specific populations and outcomes, the beneficiaries of MHAMD’s programs are all Marylanders. MHAMD’s subdivisions include a public policy advocacy staff who represent the consumer voice in many venues. The Brain Futures subdivision focuses on executive functions and children with innovative publications and consultations. “Engage with” is yet another subdivision which focuses on training of staff in older-adult congregate living environments. The Program Team consists of the Maternal and Child Health subdivision - specifically the Childrens's Mental Health Matters Program and the Healthy New Moms program.  It is further organized into subject matter expertise. Other mental health expertise is maintained in programs that cut across all age demographics such as Mental Health First Aid and the Consumer Quality Team which provides quality check points within residential and day mental health treatment facilities.  The Older Adults program focuses on mental health and aging, and offers a volunteer peer program to combat isolation and to assist individuals in remaining independent.
