Founded in Merrick in 1955, Merrick Community Nursery School is a non-profit, non-sectarian and interracial nursery school.  We are chartered and registered by the University of the State of New York. We are also licensed by the Office of Children and Family Services. 

MCNS is a true cooperative, run by a board made up of parents, the director, the teachers, and members of the Merrick community.   We are focused on creating a loving, nurturing, and exploratory environment for pre-school children.  We value, respect, and trust the individuality and uniqueness of each child. We are committed to promoting children's social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth within a warm and loving setting. We recognize the vital importance of play as a medium for learning and for providing a firm foundation for later academic success.
