Mission: To provide new laptops and mentorship to Grade 7 students who lack consistent access to technology in their home environment, thus helping to eliminate the digital divide and level the playing field.
Purpose: To lesson or eliminate the digital divide the exists between those that have access to technology and those that don’t.
Program Description: We launched our flagship program ComKids, to eliminate the digital divide for Grade 7 students in underserved communities lacking consistent access to technology in the home.
Through their participation in five Lunchtime, Lead & Learn sessions with educators and Community Liaison Officers, students learn a curriculum catered to developing foundational digital literacy skills and cyber safety awareness.
More than 7,000 students and their families have been assisted to date throughout the Hamilton-Wentworth, Niagara and Toronto Regions.
