Our organization supports patients with a rare form of cancer called sarcoma. A few facts about sarcoma:
- 1% of adult cancers, 20% of childhood cancers
- Cancer of the tissues – nerves, muscles, bones etc
- Often resistant to current treatments like chemo, radiation and surgery
Because sarcomas are so difficult to treat, the highest level of specialists and cutting-edge care is needed to save limbs and lives. One of the best sarcoma centers in the world is the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC but often expenses like travel and lodging keep patients from getting the care they need. Last year we raised $33,000 in support of MSK's patient foundation to make sure travel costs do not keep patients from treatment.
