The Middle Island Volunteer Fire Department is planning to hold a few community events over the next few years to commemorate our 75th anniversary of volunteerism to our town. We are hoping this is a great boost to our community and to all those we help everyday.  We are expecting in excess of 1,000 people.

 

Last year, our volunteers responded to almost 3,000 calls for help in our community.  What a great accomplishment for a volunteer organization!!  Residents call on us when they are having one of their worst days, and we are always there to help them any way that we can.  We are quite a varied community with many adult day cares, two nursing homes, a number of group homes, low income housing, veteran housing, etc.  This population we serve makes us one of very few departments in the area who respond to such a vast array of residents.

The mission of the foundation is to address the needs of organizations that support locating missing persons and to provide aid to organizations that assist victims of domestic violence situations, through education, awareness, and prevention strategies.
