Midwestern Braille Volunteers is a 501 (c) 3 non profit that has been in business 60 years this year.  We are a volunteer organization that provides printed material into braille for the visually impaired. One of our missions is to provide braille transcription service to children and adults to help them lead a productive life in reading.  Our service transcribes printed material into braille for individuals, schools, and businesses.  We also produce tactile graphics for textbooks for children all of the United States. We produces menus for restaurants, stock statements and bank statements for individuals wanting to see their information in braille. We have a braille greeting card line that is in both print and braille.  We can also transcribe music braille and foreign languages when needed. Our transcribers go through a 6 month course and get certified by the Library of Congress to produce braille for our organization. Our proofreaders are blind that proofread our transcription work. We also provide school presentation on Diablilty Days to schools in the St. Louis area and do presentations to various organizations to understand what we do for the visually impaired community.
