The Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition and Islamic Resource Center provides a summer reading program.  This program provides educational programming and encourages summer reading and learning.  We serve a wonderful group of families, including many recent immigrants.  These families must participate because often the parents may not be fluent English readers and need extra assistance to find books at their child’s reading level.  Last year we registered over 100 children and hope to continue to increase participation. 

Our summer reading program will reward children for reading and learning over the summer.  Children will earn incentives such as small prizes and coupons for free snacks or admission to local attractions by reading.  We will also have a raffle and the children can earn raffle tickets by reading – the more they read, the more tickets they will earn.  Educational programs provided by Mad Science, the Wehr Nature Center, and others will offer children a chance to discover new interests and increase their knowledge of the world around them.
