The families of babies in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) are members of a club they never expected to join. Time spent in a NICU is emotional, often frightening, and unfamiliar. The average length of time babies stay in the neonatal intensive care is 67 days - more than two months of the most stressful time one can imagine. In this intense environment, the families and medical staff who care for their babies form bonds that are never forgotten.
The Minnesota Neonatal Foundation was created to provide parent programming, events and improvements to the NICU environment and create a space of comfort for families and staff during this stressful time. In addition to self care opportunities for NICU staff, we also have a Parent Navigation Program. This program offers parent connection events, grocery delivery and connection to family resources within our community.
