The Mitochondrial Action club is a branch of the UC San Diego Mitochondrial Research Fund. Mitochondrial disease is a crippling disease that disables each mitochondria in every cell from producing the body's energy efficiently. There is no cure, it is little known to anyone, and it affects many children worldwide. Additionally, many diseases, such as Alzheimer's, diabetes, and even cancer are caused by a mitochondrial deficiency. With this in mind, my club is doing everything it can to spread awareness to the entire school to help the cause.
