With 63 years of expert-level service to the community, Monarch is committed to supporting, educating, and empowering people with developmental and intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and substance use disorders to choose and achieve what is important to them.
Monarch provides behavioral health services and long-term services and support to more than 28,800 people in 43 counties across North Carolina. Monarch provides services to individuals who are Medicaid-eligible, uninsured/underinsured and/or receive state funding support (83%) and Medicare, Self-Pay, and Commercial Insurance (17%). The disadvantaged population that Monarch serves experience, or have experienced, adverse childhood events, community violence, systemic racism, chronic unemployment, serious medical conditions requiring pain management, physical abuse, hunger, homelessness and co-occurring mental illness and/or substance use disorders. This population requires intensive therapeutic support to overcome the trauma that these experiences and conditions cause, and access to evidence-based services that meet those needs.
