The Morris Plains Co-op Play School is the oldest cooperative pre-school in New Jersey.  It is a place that is proud and passionate about its belief that children learn best through play – whether on the picturesque playground, through creative construction of blocks, by writing and drawing in weekly journals, or taking turns sharing on the rug. Children at the Co-op learn and grow while playing in a warm and nurturing environment that provides the ideal groundwork for a lifetime of learning.

For over 75 years, the Co-op has served as an important educational foundation for the young children of our community. Beginning in 1939, a small group of parents formed a playgroup. Shortly thereafter, the playgroup became a joint venture of parents and teachers working together. By 1951, the group was formally named the Morris Plains Cooperative Play School. After residing in various locations in the area, the school settled on Cleveland Avenue in September of 1963. Our school is proud to be a resident of the Morris Plains community, with students coming from many of the surrounding areas including; Cedar Knolls, Denville, Hanover, Morristown, Morris Township, Parsippany, Randolph and Whippany.
